The College of Pharmacy at our university organized a training course titled "How to Handle Pathogens in Laboratories," under the supervision of the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Uday Abdul-Ridha Hussein Al-Rikabi. This was part of its scientific programs aiming to enhance practical aspects and raise the efficiency of academic staff and students in the field of laboratory safety.
The course was presented by Lect. Dr. Ridhab Ibrahim Mohammed. During the course, she addressed the most important pathogens that might be handled within educational and research laboratories, mechanisms for preventing them, and methods to mitigate potential risks. Furthermore, she reviewed the standard operating procedures followed to ensure a safe working environment in accordance with approved standards.
The two-day course witnessed remarkable interaction from the participants, as it included theoretical themes and practical applications that contributed to consolidating the basic concepts related to biosafety. This enhances laboratory readiness and keeps pace with scientific developments in this field.
