With the launch of the new academic year 2026–2027, and within the framework of its efforts aimed at completing the requirements for full programmatic academic accreditation, the College of Medicine at our university convened the first meeting of the Academic Accreditation Committee. The meeting took place in the presence of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Riyadh Mustafa Murtadha, his associate deans, and the heads and members of the nine accreditation theme committees, under the slogan "Toward Full Accreditation."

The meeting featured an introductory presentation delivered by the committee chair, reviewing the results of the national evaluation and the prerequisites of the upcoming phase, alongside the 2026–2028 operational plan. It also detailed mechanisms for addressing feedback and compiling evidence that proves the practical implementation and effectiveness of accreditation standards, in addition to defining roles, timelines, and regular follow-up and review protocols to ensure the achievement of targeted objectives.

The meeting affirmed that academic accreditation is not merely about fulfilling formal criteria or adhering to auditing and review procedures. Rather, it represents an integrated institutional pathway toward achieving genuine and sustainable improvement grounded in practical implementation and verifiable, documented outcomes, thereby contributing to elevating the quality of medical education and enhancing the competence of its graduates.
