The College of Nursing, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center at our university, organized a training course entitled "The Role of Medical Detachments in Providing Healthcare During the Arbaeen Pilgrimage." The course targeted the college's students, aiming to develop their knowledge and skills in delivering health and first-aid services during million-man pilgrimages, and to enhance their readiness to handle emergency cases in accordance with scientific and professional foundations.
The course covered multiple topics, most notably the organizational mechanisms of medical detachments, methods of providing primary healthcare, and handling emergency cases and injuries. This is in addition to the importance of teamwork and coordination among medical and health personnel to guarantee the delivery of the best services to Arbaeen pilgrims during the pilgrimage.
The course lectures were presented by Prof. Dr. Ridha Mohammed Lefta Al-Taee, Asst. Lect. Ali Alaa Mahmoud, and University Nurses (Academic Nurses) Ali Jaafar Ali, Yaseen Kifah Abdul-Razzaq, Abbas Mohammed Abdul-Ameer, Haider Abdul-Ilah Wannas, Zaid Ali Abid, and Zahra Najah Hassan. Together, they reviewed the key scientific and practical aspects related to the operations of medical detachments, emergency response mechanisms, and the provision of healthcare to the visiting pilgrims.
This course is part of the training programs that the university is keen to implement to prepare and qualify its students for active participation in community service, especially during major religious occasions. This contributes directly to enhancing their humanitarian and professional role in providing healthcare to the pilgrims.
