A private academic institution of public benefit. It was established in Karbala pursuant to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Order No. (6519) on 19/09/2017, in accordance with the Private Colleges and Universities Establishment Law No. (13) of 1996, as amended.

The university consists of six colleges: Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Health and Medical Techniques with its two departments (Cardiovascular Care, Emergency Medicine), Nursing, and the College of Basic Education for Girls with its three departments (English Language, Arabic Language, Kindergarten), in addition to female dormitories at its campus located in the Holy Karbala Governorate, central Iraq, on the Karbala–Najaf road, opposite Pole 1238.

Al-Ameed University seeks to utilize the latest educational curricula and modern technologies, effective teaching methods, and laboratories qualified with the latest techniques, and to provide an integrated university environment in terms of infrastructure, gardens, and sports fields to offer the best to our dear students.

The university communicates constantly with the community, believing that the ultimate goal of the university is to serve society through its distinguished graduates and by conducting robust scientific research that addresses the problems of our Iraqi society. The College of Medicine at our university is considered the first and pioneering one among private universities. The university strives to prepare the best teaching staff and develop these competencies through collaboration with reputable international universities. Al-Ameed University will remain a distinguished scientific edifice within the mosaic of Iraqi colleges and universities.
