As part of strengthening the humanitarian role of the university, and in implementation of the plans of the Department of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance to support the elderly, the Unit of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance at the College of Dentistry, Al-Ameed University, in cooperation with the Teaching Clinics and fifth-year students, organized a field visit to the Elderly Care Home in the holy governorate of Karbala.
The visit included providing psychological and moral support to the residents of the home, in addition to conducting preliminary dental examinations and offering the necessary health guidance. Symbolic gifts were also distributed, contributing to bringing joy to the elderly residents and enhancing the spirit of familiarity, compassion, and human connection with them.
This initiative aims to instill the values of mercy and social solidarity among students, develop their sense of social responsibility, and link academic learning with practical application and humanitarian service, in line with the university’s mission to serve the community and support the most vulnerable groups.
