On Monday, October 28, 2024, the Department of Educational Guidance and Psychological Counseling at Al-Ameed University held an awareness lecture in Sayyid Al-Ma’ Hall on campus. The lecture aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and its negative consequences. It was delivered by legal expert Dr. Ahmed Yaqub Ibrahim, with the attendance of staff from the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Department, along with several students from the university’s colleges.
The lecture addressed the issue of drugs from a legal perspective, based on Iraqi legislation, highlighting the role of law in protecting society from this scourge through three main pillars: prevention, regulation, and punishment. The session also included discussions of real-life incidents involving users and dealers whose lives were adversely affected, aiming to shed light on the severity of drug abuse and its impact on individuals and society.
