The College of Pharmacy at Al-Ameed University, under the supervision of the Dean, Prof. Dr. Adiy Abdul Redha Hussein Al-Rikabi, organized a training workshop titled "Obesity and Its Relationship with Atherosclerosis and Chronic Diseases," presented by Lect. Dr. Rudhab Ibrahim Mohammed.
The Assistant Dean of the College of Pharmacy for Administrative Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Hassan Zulfiqar Al-Bassam, stated in an exclusive declaration to the University Media: "This workshop is part of a series of scientific activities that the College of Pharmacy is keen to adopt to enhance health and medical awareness among our students and university staff. The issue of obesity and its associated chronic diseases represents a global challenge that requires concerted academic and research efforts to confront."
Al-Bassam pointed out that the workshop is considered an important opportunity to inform participants of the latest biological mechanisms explaining the relationship between fat accumulation and the increased risk of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular diseases. He emphasized that understanding these mechanisms contributes to enhancing the ability of specialists to diagnose risk factors and intervene early to protect patients.
Al-Bassam added that highlighting the clinical and diagnostic indicators associated with obesity helps in developing the participants' skills and adopting a precise scientific approach in analyzing these cases. This supports prevention strategies and contributes to improving the quality of healthcare within the community.
It is noteworthy that this workshop aims to educate participants on the close relationship between obesity and the development of chronic diseases, emphasizing the importance of early detection of associated pathological changes, in addition to enabling them to assess risk factors and use modern methods in diagnosis and prevention.
