A commemorative mourning gathering was held on the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (peace be upon him), in the presence of the University President, the Assistants, a number of College Deans and their assistants, and a gathering of faculty members, employees, and university students. This was to commemorate this sorrowful occasion and recall the fragrant biography of the Imam, as well as the scientific and intellectual contributions he offered to the Islamic nation.
The gathering commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, recited by College of Medicine student Musa Ahmed. Following this, His Eminence Sheikh Hussein Al-Isawi took to the pulpit and delivered a lecture discussing the biography of Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (peace be upon him). He reviewed the most prominent milestones of his blessed life, his pivotal role in disseminating the sciences of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), and his establishment of a solid scientific school that produced many scholars and jurists in the doctrine, in addition to his reformist stances and his striving to consolidate religious values.
His Eminence the Sheikh also touched upon the circumstances during the Imam's (peace be upon him) era, and the challenges and difficulties he faced, leading up to his martyrdom. He emphasized the importance of following his scientific and ethical approach in building society and enhancing religious awareness. The gathering concluded with the recitation of Surat Al-Fatiha, praying for mercy upon the souls of the martyrs of the homeland and the faith.
