The College of Medicine at our university organized a welcoming meeting for first-year students today, Saturday. The event was attended by the University Assistant President for Administrative and Legal Affairs, Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Kareem Abdul Rahim; the Scientific Assistant, Asst. Prof. Dr. Lamia Abdul Kareem; and the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Riyadh Mustafa Murtadha. This initiative is part of the commitment to welcoming new students and introducing them to their academic environment.
The meeting commenced with a welcoming speech delivered by the Dean, in which he expressed his pride in the joining of a new elite group of students to the college's scientific journey. He emphasized the importance of adhering to university values and academic discipline, and striving seriously to acquire medical knowledge and skills according to the highest scientific standards. He also highlighted the humanitarian and professional role of the physician and the high responsibility and ethics this mission requires.
Furthermore, a set of directives and guidelines related to university regulations and instructions, study curricula, and student assessment mechanisms were presented, in addition to introducing basic scientific concepts.
The meeting witnessed positive interaction from the students, who raised a number of inquiries regarding academic and administrative aspects. These questions were answered directly, contributing to enhancing their self-confidence and preparing them to start their academic year with stability and ambition.
