The Industrial Advisory Board at the College of Pharmacy at University of Al-Ameed held a meeting to discuss ways to develop the academic program and enhance its alignment with the requirements of the labor market and the pharmaceutical sector. The meeting was attended by the representative of the Pharmacists Syndicate in Holy Karbala, Dr. Ali Ghani Abdul-Shaheed, and the Head of the Pharmacy Department at the Holy Karbala Health Directorate, Specialist Pharmacist Raad Hameed Turki, alongside members of the advisory board.
The meeting addressed reviewing current curricula and study plans, assessing their alignment with rapid developments in the labor market, as well as evaluating learning outcomes, skills, and competencies possessed by program graduates and their harmony with professional practice requirements.
Participants also discussed current and future labor market needs, identifying the gap between academic program outcomes and the requirements of the pharmaceutical sector, while emphasizing the importance of expanding practical and field training and linking it directly to real-world professional practice.
Furthermore, the meeting highlighted the necessity of strengthening students' professional, technical, and digital skills to keep pace with modern developments in the pharmacy profession. It also explored collaboration opportunities between the college and the pharmaceutical sector in practical training, joint projects, field visits, and hosting industry experts to deliver specialized lectures.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the board put forward several proposals and recommendations aimed at developing the academic program and elevating the quality of its outcomes, thereby contributing to preparing graduates with the scientific competence and professional skills needed to fulfill market needs and serve the community.
