The convening of this conference comes within the framework of scientific and intellectual efforts undertaken by the Holy Al-Abbas Shrine to support scientific research, sponsor academic initiatives, and enhance the role of educational institutions in preserving Iraqi and Arab intellectual heritage while utilizing modern technologies to serve it. This reflects its cultural and scientific mission and underscores the vital integration between its academic and research institutions, foremost among them University of Al-Ameed.

The conference was organized by the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs, represented by the Indexing and Information Systems Center and the Al-Fadl Center for Heritage Preservation and Conservation, both affiliated with the Library and House of Manuscripts at the Holy Al-Abbas Shrine, in cooperation with our university, and in scientific partnership with the College of Artificial Intelligence at the University of Baghdad and the departments of information and knowledge technologies at Mustansiriyah University, University of Basrah, and University of Mosul.

The conference witnessed the submission of 73 scientific research papers, 60 of which were presented across 30 scientific sessions held during the first two days at University of Al-Ameed, while the Holy Al-Abbas Shrine hosted the closing day's events, which took place in the Imam Al-Hassan (peace be upon him) Hall.

The concluding events featured a specialized workshop addressing artificial intelligence and its applications in the library and information fields along with augmented reality technologies, as well as a workshop titled "Building the Moon - An Experimental Open-Source System for AR, BIBFRAME, and Linked Data in Service of Iraqi Intellectual Heritage," presented by researcher Ishaq Faleh from the Indexing and Information Systems Center. This was followed by the conference closing address and the announcement of its recommendations, delivered by the Head of the Department of Information and Knowledge Technologies at Mustansiriyah University, Dr. Zainab Abdul-Wahid Salman, alongside honoring the participating universities and colleges that contributed to the conference proceedings.

The ceremony also included screening an introductory film about University of Al-Ameed, reviewing its scientific and academic journey, colleges, disciplines, and advanced educational infrastructure and capabilities, in addition to the services provided to its students. The film highlighted its achievements in academic accreditations, which totaled 31 accreditations, reflecting the university's commitment to consolidating quality standards and elevating academic performance.

The conference aimed to shed light on the latest smart technologies and artificial intelligence applications in managing libraries and information institutions, discuss mechanisms of sustainable digital preservation for Iraqi and Arab heritage, and provide a scientific platform for exchanging expertise among researchers and academic institutions, contributing to the development of the information and library sector, promoting knowledge leadership, and keeping pace with rapid technological shifts.
