As part of its continuous efforts to advance the educational process and enhance the quality of medical education, the Curriculum Committee at the College of Medicine – Al-Ameed University convened an important meeting today, Sunday, April 20, 2025, to discuss the evaluation of the current academic curricula. This comes within the college’s strategic plan aimed at improving academic performance and updating scientific content to align with modern advancements.
The meeting addressed several key topics, including the assessment of strengths and weaknesses within the current curricula and emphasizing the importance of enhancing integration between basic and clinical sciences. Additionally, the necessity of incorporating behavioral and social sciences into the academic content more broadly and effectively was highlighted.
The attendees also discussed methods to develop teaching approaches through the adoption of innovative educational methodologies. Furthermore, they reviewed the content of medical ethics and mental health topics, stressing the significance of preventive aspects and health education, and updating these areas in a manner that meets student and community needs, thereby reinforcing the applied understanding of these values within the medical learning environment.
