The University Assistant President for Administrative and Legal Affairs, Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Kareem Abdul Rahim, received a delegation from the Martyrs Foundation in his office. The meeting aimed to discuss mechanisms of joint cooperation and preparations for holding the "First Al-Ameed Annual Festival for Combating Violent Extremism," scheduled to be organized tomorrow, Wednesday (18/2/2026). This falls within the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research aimed at consolidating concepts of moderation and rejecting extremist thought in both university and community circles.
During the meeting, the importance of strengthening the institutional partnership between the university and the Martyrs Foundation was emphasized. This contributes to spreading a culture of intellectual awareness and consolidating values of tolerance and community peace. Additionally, it highlights the importance of recalling national sacrifices and linking them to the educational dimension in confronting extremism in all its forms.
The meeting also included a discussion of the festival's main themes. These include holding specialized scientific seminars addressing the dangers of violent extremism and its impact on community security, organizing awareness exhibitions showcasing the efforts of the state and national institutions in combating it, and holding dialogue sessions with the participation of professors, researchers, and students.
