The College of Dentistry at our university organized a scientific workshop titled "What is the h-index?". It was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Zina Ali Daily, in the presence of a number of the college's teaching staff and students.

The workshop addressed the definition of the h-index as a scientific metric used to evaluate the productivity and scientific impact of researchers in a balanced manner. It represents the number of research papers that have each received a number of scientific citations no less than the index number itself, making it an important academic tool for measuring the quality of research output.

The lecturer also explained the importance of this index in global repositories, especially in the Scopus database, and its role in measuring the researcher's scientific impact and the extent of the spread and influence of their work in the academic community. The workshop also touched upon the mechanisms and methods that contribute to enhancing the h-index value among researchers by developing scientific output and increasing citation opportunities for published research.

This workshop comes as part of the activities of the College of Dentistry aimed at enhancing awareness of global scientific indicators and elevating the research level among the college's teaching staff and students.
