Under the auspices of the University President, Prof. Dr. Jawdat Nouri Al-Jashamy, and in the presence of the Head of the Education and Higher Education Authority and member of the Board of Directors of the Al-Abbas (p) Holy Shrine, Prof. Dr. Abbas Rasheed Al-Dada Al-Musawi, the College of Medicine launched this Wednesday morning (8/4/2026) the activities of the Second Student Conference for Interdisciplinary Projects (I.D.P). The event was organized by the Family and Community Medicine Branch in cooperation with the Medical Education Unit and was held at the university center.
According to its organizers, the conference aims to enhance cognitive integration among medical specialties and encourage students to present applied scientific projects that contribute to developing their research and practical skills within an interactive academic environment that supports innovation and teamwork.
The conference's program included a 10-minute presentation for each project, followed by discussions and evaluations by specialized scientific committees using forms prepared for this purpose, lasting 20 minutes for each project, ensuring an objective and comprehensive evaluation of the participating works.
The activities of the opening session commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, the playing of the national anthem, and the anthem of the Al-Abbas (p) Holy Shrine (Melody of Pride). This was followed by a speech from the University Presidency, a speech from the Deanship of the College of Medicine, a speech from the Presidency of the Family and Community Medicine Branch, as well as a speech by the student representative.
The middle of the program featured the presentation of a number of specialized scientific lectures, including a lecture on Interdisciplinary Projects (IDP) and their relationship to academic accreditation, and another that discussed the role of this type of project in bridging gaps in medical education and preparing doctors who are more comprehensive in their skills.
The conference concluded with the distribution of participation certificates to the participating students, in a step that reflects the university's commitment to supporting qualitative scientific activities that contribute to preparing qualified medical staff capable of keeping pace with the requirements of development in the health sector of our beloved country.
