The activities of the Third Al-Ameed University International Conference for Medical Sciences kicked off this morning, Wednesday (November 26, 2025), under the patronage of the Al-Abbas (p) Holy Shrine. The event continues for two days under the slogan "Integration of Medical Sciences to Serve Society," held in cooperation with Al-Kafeel University and Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital, with wide participation from academics and researchers from inside and outside Iraq.
The opening session was attended by the President of the Education and Higher Education Authority at the Al-Abbas (p) Holy Shrine and member of its Board of Directors, Prof. Dr. Abbas Rashid Al-Daddah Al-Mousawi, along with a gathering of officials from the Holy Shrine, as well as a number of university presidents and official and academic figures.
The session began with a blessed recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and the reading of Surat Al-Fatiha for the souls of Iraq's martyrs. Then, the National Anthem and the Al-Abbas (p) Holy Shrine anthem (Lahn Al-Abaa) were played. This was followed by a speech from the Legal Guardian of the Al-Abbas (p) Holy Shrine, His Eminence Sayyid Ahmed Al-Safi (may his honor last), delivered by his representative, Dr. Abbas Al-Daddah Al-Mousawi, followed by a speech from the President of Al-Ameed University, Prof. Dr. Jawdat Nouri Al-Jashaami.
The opening program also included an introductory video presentation about Al-Ameed University, followed by the opening lecture titled "The Metabolic Clash: Why Glucose Intolerance and Hypertension Cluster," presented by Dr. Abdul-Majeed Salmasi, Professor at the National Heart and Lung Institute at the Royal School of Medicine, University of London.
This conference comes within the framework of Al-Ameed University's endeavor to keep pace with global developments in the field of medical sciences and to enhance its efforts in employing international expertise to advance the academic and medical research reality in Iraq.
