In a new milestone reflecting the advancement of medical education at our university, the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) in the United States announced the inclusion of the College of Medicine at University of Al-Ameed in the list of medical schools eligible for Pathway 3 for the year 2027.
This inclusion follows the college obtaining academic accreditation from the National Council for Accreditation of Medical Colleges in Iraq (NCAMC), recognized by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME). The official roster included 21 Iraqi medical colleges, among them the College of Medicine at our university, which stands as the sole Iraqi private medical college featured on the current list alongside 20 public medical schools.
The significance of this listing lies in providing eligible students and graduates of the college the opportunity to apply through this pathway to fulfill the requirements for ECFMG certification, which represents an essential prerequisite for joining medical residency and fellowship programs in the United States after satisfying accredited examinations, assessments, and standards.
