The College of Pharmacy at Al-Ameed University held a scientific workshop on Monday, April 7, 2025, entitled “Natural Products and Their Role in Cancer Treatment,” under the supervision of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Adi Abdul Redha Hussein Al-Rukabi, with the attendance of several faculty members.
The workshop was presented by Lecturer Dr. Mazen Salim Shaker, who highlighted the effective role of natural products derived from plant, animal, and microbial sources in the treatment of cancer. He shed light on the molecular mechanisms underlying the effects of these compounds, in addition to providing an overview of the most prominent recent research on their efficacy.
The workshop aimed to raise awareness about the importance of these compounds as promising alternatives to traditional chemotherapy, and to encourage scientific research in this vital field, given its significant potential for developing safer and more effective therapeutic strategies in the future.
