The College of Basic Education for Girls at Al-Ameed University, in cooperation with Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital and the College of Medicine at the university, organized a scientific awareness lecture titled "Breast Cancer: Awareness, Early Detection, Prevention." The lecture targeted the college's female students and was held under the supervision of the Acting Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Subhih Al-Kaabi.
The lecture was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Lamia Abdul Kareem, an internal medicine specialist at the College of Medicine at Al-Ameed University, and Dr. Anwar Mohammed Al-Hashimi, a specialist in the early detection of breast diseases and cancer at Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital.
Dr. Lamia Abdul Kareem stated in an exclusive declaration to the university media that these lectures represent an important part of the awareness role the university seeks to establish among its female students, especially since breast cancer is a disease that requires early awareness to deal with.
Abdul Kareem added that promoting the culture of periodic and self-examination represents a fundamental step in reducing the severity of the disease, noting that the university continues its support for these purposeful health activities.
Abdul Kareem pointed out the importance of the female student being part of spreading awareness in her family and social surroundings, as prevention relies heavily on early knowledge.
For her part, Dr. Anwar Mohammed Al-Hashimi explained that Al-Kafeel Hospital is keen to provide the latest diagnostic technologies that contribute to detecting the disease in its early stages, which significantly raises recovery rates.
Al-Hashimi added that cooperation between the hospital and educational institutions enhances the potential for spreading health awareness and creates a protective knowledge environment within the academic community.
She noted that any change or sign observed by women should be treated with complete seriousness without negligence, emphasizing that health culture is the first line of defense against the disease.
This lecture comes as part of the program of the College of Basic Education for Girls at Al-Ameed University to spread health awareness among female students.
