Al-Ameed University participated in the Individual Sports Championship held in Baghdad Governorate, on the grounds of Gilgamesh University, from November 22 to 27, with the participation of more than 50 Iraqi universities. The championship included competitions in powerlifting, table tennis, and swimming.
The Director of the Student Activities Department, Dr. Hassan Hakem, stated in a declaration to the university media that "our teams presented a distinguished performance, resulting in honorable results in the competitions."
He noted that the table tennis team achieved consecutive victories against Al-Shaab University, Al-Qadisiyah University, and Al-Hilla University, qualifying well-deservedly for the Round of 16 after a strong performance and a high competitive level. Meanwhile, student Zaid Asaad Alwan from the College of Pharmacy won second place at the level of Iraqi universities in the Bench Press event for the 59 kg weight class, amidst wide participation from players from various universities. As for the swimming event, the university team recorded a good presence in the races, and its players presented a distinguished performance reflecting their high readiness and their bright representation of Al-Ameed University.
Hakem explained that the university presidency pays great attention to supporting university sports championships and activities, believing in the importance of sports in enhancing the spirit of competition and elevating the student level.
