Al-Ameed University received this morning, Tuesday (November 18, 2025), the ministerial committee tasked with monitoring the implementation of the activities of the Iraqi Anti-Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Week. This falls within the ministerial and university program supporting the dissemination of community awareness and the achievement of a safe university environment.
The Director of the Department of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance at Al-Ameed University, Prof. Dr. Hassanain Adnan Al-Mousawi, stated in an exclusive declaration to the university media: "This visit coincided with holding an educational awareness lecture as part of the Iraqi Week activities, presented to the students by Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Hamid, a faculty member at the College of Pharmacy. During the lecture, he addressed the dangers of drugs and the serious health, social, and psychological effects resulting from their abuse, in addition to emphasizing the importance of enhancing the culture of prevention among students and rejecting all attempts targeting them with this destructive scourge."
Al-Mousawi added: "Al-Ameed University attaches great importance to the anti-narcotics file, in line with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, by implementing continuous awareness programs targeting our dear students to immunize them against this dangerous phenomenon."
For their part, the members of the ministerial committee praised the level of organization and student interaction, affirming the Ministry's support for such purposeful educational activities and the continued cooperation with Iraqi universities to enhance community awareness and curb the spread of the drug scourge.
Al-Ameed University continues to implement a series of diverse activities during this awareness week, including lectures, workshops, and educational student activities, confirming its humanitarian and educational commitment to protecting youth from behavioral and health risks.
