The university witnessed today, Sunday (26/7/2026), the launch ceremony of the Hussaini service at the Umm al-Baneen (peace be upon her) Complex for Visitors' Services inside the university campus, marking the commencement of delivering services to the visitors of Imam Hussain and his brother Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon them) during the Arbaeen pilgrimage, amidst a broad official and academic presence.
The ceremony was attended by the Head of the Higher Education and Education Authority at the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine and member of its Board of Directors, Prof. Dr. Abbas Rashid Al-Deda Al-Mousawi; member of the Board of Directors of the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine, Eng. Sayyid Mohammed Al-Ushaiqar; alongside the President of The University of Alameed, Prof. Dr. Jawdat Nouri Al-Jashamy; and the Head of the Umm al-Baneen (peace be upon her) Complex, Haj Asst. Lect. Majid Mohammed Al-Rubaie. This was in addition to representatives of the Maysan Health Directorate, the Scientific Academy of the Holy Quran, the Qamar Bani Hashim (peace be upon him) Foundation, the Fikr Al-Ma'rifa Foundation for Development and Innovation from Basra Governorate, alongside a number of complex officials, university staff, and academic and social figures.
The ceremony commenced with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by faculty member Lect. Dr. Ali Hamad Al-Galgawi, followed by the recitation of Surah Al-Fatiha for the souls of the martyrs. Subsequently, the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Jawdat Nouri Al-Jashamy, delivered a welcoming address in which he emphasized that serving the visitors of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) represents a faith-based and humanitarian mission that The University of Alameed is honored to undertake annually, in harmony with the approach of the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine in commemorating Hussaini rituals and serving visitors.
He pointed out that the Arbaeen pilgrimage derives its profound standing from the missionary continuation of the renaissance of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) and the guidance from the Imams of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) urging the revival and preservation of this great ritual, noting that the university considers its participation in this service an integral part of its religious and community responsibility.
He also valued the continuous support of the Supreme Religious Authority, represented by His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Al-Husseini Al-Sistani (may his shadow endure), and the patronage of the Senior Official of the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine, His Eminence Allama Sayyid Ahmad Al-Safi (may his honor endure), praising the role of the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine across its various departments and divisions in supporting both the complex and the university. Furthermore, he expressed his gratitude to the Maysan Health Directorate and the supporting entities and institutions—foremost among them the Qamar Bani Hashim (peace be upon him) Foundation and the Fikr Al-Ma'rifa Foundation for Development and Innovation—for their annual support in making the Hussaini service a success.
The ceremony featured speeches by representatives of the Maysan Health Directorate, the Qamar Bani Hashim (peace be upon him) Foundation, and the Scientific Academy of the Holy Quran – Ameer Al-Qurra Procession, in which they underscored the importance of integration between religious, academic, and service institutions in providing the best services to the visitors of the Arbaeen of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him).
The ceremony concluded with a Hussaini mourning council presented by the Hussaini preacher Sayyid Hussein Al-Safi, who commended the efforts of the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine and The University of Alameed in serving visitors, stressing that these blessed deeds represent a true embodiment of exalting the rituals of Allah and consolidating the values of generosity and selflessness personified by the Hussaini renaissance.
