As part of its World Environment Day 2026 activities, University of Al-Ameed organised a programme of environmental awareness and dialogue addressing sustainability, climate action and responsible resource use, with participation from students, academics, researchers and representatives of external stakeholders, including the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine, Karbala Environment Directorate and Karbala Water Resources Directorate.
The activities highlighted the importance of reducing carbon emissions, improving energy efficiency and supporting the transition towards alternative and renewable energy sources. Discussions also focused on the role of universities in encouraging responsible energy use, strengthening environmental awareness among young people and the wider community, and contributing to practical responses to environmental and climate challenges.
The programme provided a platform for interaction between the University and external stakeholders, reinforcing cooperation and knowledge exchange around sustainability and environmental responsibility. It also emphasised the importance of innovation and student-led projects capable of providing environmentally friendly alternatives and supporting more sustainable patterns of development.
Beyond awareness activities, University of Al-Ameed supports innovation and entrepreneurship through its institutional scientific-affairs framework. The University supports innovative projects through scientific incubators, encourages the development and application of new ideas, and strengthens connections with relevant sectors to help transform academic and student innovation into practical solutions. These mechanisms provide a foundation for supporting projects and emerging initiatives related to environmentally responsible technologies, resource efficiency and lower-carbon development.
By combining community awareness, clean-energy dialogue, student engagement and institutional support for innovation, University of Al-Ameed seeks to contribute to a wider culture of sustainability while encouraging practical solutions that support environmental protection and the transition towards a lower-carbon future.
