Our university organized "University Excellence Day" in the Imam Al-Mujtaba (peace be upon him) Hall in the center of the university campus. This took place in the presence of the Head of the Higher Education and Education Authority at the Holy Abbasid Shrine and member of its Board of Directors, Prof. Dr. Abbas Rashid Al-Deda Al-Mousawi; the University President, Prof. Dr. Jawdat Nouri Al-Jashamy; his assistants for scientific and administrative affairs; college deans; department directors; along with faculty members, employees, and students.
The festival's activities commenced with a blessed recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by the playing of the Iraqi national anthem and the "Pride of the Fathers" (Lahn Al-Abaa) anthem. Then, the University President delivered a speech in which he emphasized that excellence may stem from intrinsic motivation or a passion through which a person seeks to achieve superiority, or it may be a challenge faced by an individual. However, Al-Ameed University launches its vision of excellence from the principle of sincerity in work and seeking the pleasure of God Almighty, noting that sincerity is the foundation that generates true excellence.
He pointed out the importance of consolidating the culture of excellence across various sectors of the university, stressing that honoring represents an incentive for perseverance, giving, and elevating performance. He expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Supreme Religious Authority represented by His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Husseini al-Sistani (may his extensive shadow endure), to the Legal Custodian of the Holy Abbasid Shrine, His Eminence Scholar Sayyid Ahmad al-Safi (may his glory endure), and to the Holy Abbasid Shrine for its continuous support of the educational and academic journey.
The activities included a review of two inspiring success stories of two university students. Salem Thamer Abdullah, a third-stage student at the College of Medicine, reviewed his journey and the challenges and difficulties he faced until reaching this advanced stage of medical studies. Furthermore, Maher Fulaih Dhahi, a student with special needs from the fifth stage at the College of Pharmacy, presented his personal experience and how he managed to overcome challenges to become a role model among his fellow students.
The events concluded with honoring the individuals behind the success stories, as well as honoring the winners of the awards for Best Outstanding Scientific Research, Best Outstanding Researcher, Best Outstanding Graduation Research, Outstanding Faculty Member, Outstanding Employee, and Outstanding Department, alongside a number of distinguished students and contributors to the success of the assessment exams and auditing committees across the university's colleges.
Through this recognition, the university seeks to consolidate a culture of creativity and excellence, encouraging its staff and students to exert more efforts to achieve the best results and elevate the academic level of the university, which is honored to bear the name of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) and enjoys the sponsorship of the Holy Abbasid Shrine.
