University of Al-Ameed continues to develop and upgrade its campus infrastructure with a focus on improving energy efficiency, reducing resource consumption and supporting more sustainable operations. These considerations are incorporated into ongoing building development, renovation, maintenance and infrastructure planning across the University.
As part of this approach, the University progressively adopts energy-efficient technologies and reviews the performance of its buildings and systems to identify opportunities for improvement. Solar energy systems are regularly monitored to ensure efficient operation, while annual reviews help determine where additional solar panels can be installed to increase renewable-energy generation and reduce reliance on conventional fuel-powered generators. In addition, the University’s energy-management approach is supported by ISO 50001:2018 and periodic review of energy performance. The University’s own Green Star assessment team also evaluates annual energy-use intensity and building-efficiency indicators to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for further improvement.
Energy efficiency is also supported through measures such as lighting sensors, efficient lighting and controls, improved management of electrical equipment, and monitoring of areas with higher energy demand. Findings from these reviews inform future upgrades and help direct resources towards buildings and systems where improvements can provide the greatest benefit.
The University’s approach also contributes to reducing carbon emissions by increasing the use of renewable energy, improving the efficiency of campus facilities and progressively reducing dependence on conventional energy sources. In line with its Strategic Plan, ISO 50001 energy-management commitments and continued expansion of solar-energy capacity, these measures support the University’s wider commitment to responsible energy management, lower-carbon campus development and the long-term objective of transitioning toward 100% renewable energy use as infrastructure, technology and available resources allow.
Through continued infrastructure development, technical review and progressive investment in renewable energy and energy-efficient technologies, University of Al-Ameed seeks to improve the environmental performance of its campus while providing modern, efficient and sustainable facilities for its academic community.
