The University of Alameed Commemorates the Martyrdom of Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (Peace Be Upon Him) by Holding a Mourning Council

The University Psychological Counseling Division at our university organized today, Sunday (May 24, 2026), a mourning council on the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (peace be upon him), in the Imam Al-Mujtaba (peace be upon him) Hall in the center of the university campus.

The council commenced with a blessed recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, recited by the College of Pharmacy student Hameed Farhan, followed by a religious lecture delivered by the Husseini orator, His Eminence Sheikh Baqir Al-Subaihawi. In his lecture, he addressed the biography of Imam al-Baqir (peace be upon him) and stations from his blessed life, shedding light on the values of patience, steadfastness, and giving embodied by his personality, and the lessons learned from his fragrant biography up to the moment of his martyrdom.

The council witnessed the attendance of the University President, Prof. Dr. Jawdat Nouri Al-Jashamy; the Assistant to the University President for Administrative and Legal Affairs, Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Kareem Abdul Raheem; the Acting Assistant to the University President for Scientific Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Lamiaa Abdul Kareem; along with college deans, a number of directors of functional departments, and university staff and students.

This event comes as part of a series of cultural and religious activities that The University of Alameed is keen to organize periodically, with the aim of consolidating Islamic values, enhancing awareness of the biographies of the Imams of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), and recalling religious occasions due to their educational and spiritual impact in building the personalities of students and staff.
