The university organized today, Saturday (11/7/2026), a mourning council to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ali bin Al-Hussain Al-Sajjad Zain Al-Abideen (peace be upon them). The event was held under the supervision of the University Psychological Counseling Division, as part of its religious and educational programs aimed at reviving Islamic occasions and consolidating the values of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).
The council took place in the Imam Al-Mujtaba (peace be upon him) Hall, in the presence of the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Jawdat Nouri Al-Jashamy, and the Assistants to the University President for Scientific and Administrative Affairs, alongside a number of college deans, department directors, and academic and administrative staff at the university.
The council commenced with a fragrant recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, delivered by College of Medicine student Mousa Ahmad. This was followed by a religious lecture by the Hussaini preacher Sayyid Hisham Al-Battat, who addressed the blessed biography of Imam Al-Sajjad (peace be upon him) and his significant role in preserving the path of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) and spreading their sciences, despite the immense suffering and pain he endured following the tragic Battle of Taff, leading up to his martyrdom on the twenty-fifth of the holy month of Muharram.
This council falls within a series of religious and awareness-raising activities that the university is keen to organize to deeply embed authentic Islamic values, enhance awareness of the culture of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), and inspire their lessons and principles in the hearts and minds of the university's personnel and students.
