The Supreme Religious Authority, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Husseini al-Sistani (may his shadow be extended), expressed his condolences on the passing of the Religious Authority, Ayatollah Sheikh Mohammad Ishaq al-Fayyad (may God be pleased with him).
The text of the statement read as follows:
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return)
I received with deep sorrow and regret the news of the departure of my pure brother, the Religious Authority, Ayatollah Sheikh Mohammad Ishaq al-Fayyad (may God be pleased with him).
The great deceased was one of the prominent figures in the Islamic Seminary (Hawza) in the Holy City of Najaf in recent decades. He was distinguished by his sincere efforts in serving knowledge and its seekers through authorship, teaching, and other endeavors. Hence, the loss with his passing is grave, and the void he left is vast, difficult to fill except by the grace and care of God Almighty.
As I express my condolences on this monumental affliction to the Greatest Friend of God [the awaited Imam] (may our souls be sacrificed for him), the Islamic seminaries, the family of the felicitous deceased, and the believers in general, I ask God Almighty to elevate his rank in the heavens, gather him with His chosen ones, Muhammad and his pure and immaculate household, and inspire his family and loved ones with patience and solace.
There is no power nor strength except in God, the Most High, the Great.
