College of Medicine Students on a Scientific Visit to Al-Sibtayn Academy for Autism and Developmental Disorders

In the framework of enhancing the practical aspect for students of the College of Medicine at Al-Ameed University, and deepening their understanding of developmental disorders and the autism spectrum, the Deanship of the College of Medicine, in cooperation with the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Division in the college, organized a scientific visit to Al-Sibtayn Academy for Autism and Developmental Disorders, affiliated with the Al-Hussainiya Holy Shrine. During the visit, the students observed the specialized work environment within the academy.

The Scientific Assistant to the Dean, Prof. Dr. Ali Zulfiqar Al-Bassam, stated in a declaration to the university media that this visit comes within the framework of developing the clinical and humanitarian skills of the students and introducing them to the latest methods of dealing with cases of developmental disorders and the autism spectrum. This enhances their ability to provide comprehensive medical care in the future, as the College of Medicine at Al-Ameed University seeks to support applied and research aspects and open horizons for continuous cooperation with specialized institutions in this field.

Dr. Al-Bassam—who accompanied the student delegation along with the Head of the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Division in the college, Asst. Prof. Dr. Lamia Abdul Kareem—added that a detailed explanation was provided to the students regarding adopted methods of diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation. This was in addition to learning about the services provided to children and their families, contributing to linking the theoretical aspect of study with practical reality.
