Embodying the vision and mission of the College of Medicine to elevate the educational process, and out of its commitment to adopting modern medical education methods that place the student at the center of learning, the Internal Medicine Branch at the College of Medicine in our university held a scientific student debate. The debate addressed a medical topic that remains a subject of discussion and controversy in scientific circles, in the presence of the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Riyadh Mustafa Murtadha, the College Deanship, and a number of its teaching staff.

This event came within the framework of enhancing interactive learning, encouraging students toward critical and analytical thinking, and linking theoretical knowledge with clinical practice based on evidence-based medicine. Fifth-year students were provided the opportunity to present and defend their scientific opinions based on the latest medical evidence and studies, within an academic environment that stimulates scientific dialogue and respect for differing opinions.

The debate also contributed to developing several essential skills among the students, including scientific research, academic presentation, teamwork, and effective communication. This aligns with the requirements of preparing the future doctor, capable of keeping pace with scientific developments and making sound clinical decisions.
