The College of Medicine, under the supervision of the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Riyadh Mustafa Murtadha, organized a preparatory training course that lasted for three days. It was organized by the Medical Education Unit in cooperation with the Continuing Education Division at the college, to prepare the assisting staff of teaching assistants (demonstrators) to take on the role of trainers under the supervision of professors in the Critical Appraisal Course (CAC).
The course included training participants on the principles of evidence-based medicine, the mechanism for searching for scientific evidence, and familiarization with various research designs. This was in addition to the practical application of the Simplified Critical Appraisal Checklist (SCAC) tool, which will help them support students during practical training sessions.
The organization of this course comes in preparation for the launch of the Critical Appraisal Course for sixth-stage students at the end of June. It aims to enhance students' skills in reading medical research, evaluating its quality, and linking its results to evidence-based clinical practice, thereby contributing to achieving the goal of Life-Long Learning.
