In an effort to enhance students' scientific and applied knowledge, the College of Pharmacy at our university organized a scientific workshop titled "Molecular Docking, from Protein Structure to a Testable Binding Hypothesis." The workshop was presented by college faculty member, Assistant Lecturer Ghaith Mohammed Abbas, and aimed at College of Pharmacy students within the Medicinal Chemistry Department.
The workshop addressed the concept of molecular docking and its role in investigating interactions between biomolecules, particularly the binding of drug compounds to targeted proteins. This aids in understanding drug mechanisms of action and supports research dedicated to the discovery and development of therapeutic compounds.
This workshop comes as part of the college's efforts aimed at developing research skills among students and introducing them to modern computational techniques utilized in medicinal chemistry and drug design, thereby reinforcing the integration of theoretical knowledge with modern scientific and research applications.
