The Dean of the College of Pharmacy at Al-Ameed University, Professor Dr. Uday Abdul Redha Hussein Al-Rikabi, chaired a Master's thesis defense committee at the College of Pharmacy, University of Karbala. The thesis was entitled:
“The Impact of Genetic Variability in ABCB1 Transporter on the Efficacy of Prednisolone in Patients with Nephrotic Syndrome in Iraq.”

The study aimed to evaluate the influence of genetic polymorphisms in the ABCB1 transporter on the response of Iraqi pediatric patients to Prednisolone therapy, particularly in cases of steroid resistance. The research involved the analysis of samples collected from patients aged between 1 and 16 years, utilizing advanced DNA analysis techniques.

The findings revealed a correlation between specific genetic mutations and patient responses to treatment. These results underscore the importance of incorporating genetic testing into future therapeutic plans to enhance treatment precision and reduce adverse effects.
