On Wednesday, July 2, 2025, the Department of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance at Al-Ameed University organized a Majlis of mourning commemorating the martyrdom anniversary of the Standard-Bearer of Karbala and embodiment of altruism and heroism, al-Mawla Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him). The gathering was held in the Imam al-Mujtaba (peace be upon him) Hall within the university campus.
The event was attended by the University President, Prof. Dr. Jawdat Noori Al-Jushami, the Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Maytham Hameed Al-Qanbar, and the Assistant President for Administrative and Legal Affairs, Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Kareem Abdulrahim, along with a number of college deans, faculty members, staff, and university personnel.
The Majlis commenced with a recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an by Dr. Ali Hameed Al-Kalkawi, followed by a religious sermon delivered by Sheikh Abdulsahib Al-Tai, who reflected on the life and heroic stances of al-Mawla al-Abbas (peace be upon him) on the Day of Ashura. He praised the profound sacrifices made in support of Imam al-Hussain (peace be upon him) and his noble household.
At the conclusion of the Majlis, attendees partook in a blessed meal served at the university club, seeking divine reward through this sacred occasion and offering heartfelt condolences to Imam al-Hussain (peace be upon him)—the bereaved of this noble tragedy.
