During the 2024/2025 academic year and throughout 2025, Al-Ameed University implemented a range of outreach activities aimed at improving and promoting health and wellbeing within the local community, including initiatives supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged groups.
Community Health and Wellbeing Outreach
Through its health-related colleges, university units and community partnerships, Al-Ameed University contributed to health awareness, community support and access to healthcare services through a variety of initiatives.
Activities included health-awareness campaigns, medical and dental outreach, health education, first-aid and safety awareness, mental-health and wellbeing activities, and initiatives supporting preventive healthcare.
The University also supported the provision of healthcare to individuals and groups in need. During 2025, this included financial and material support for medical treatment and free healthcare services, the provision of medical beds and equipment to a free medical clinic, support for dental treatment for orphaned children, and assistance to programmes providing free dental and medical services to members of the community.
University students and staff also participated in humanitarian and wellbeing initiatives directed towards vulnerable groups. These included visits and support activities for children receiving cancer treatment, elderly residents, and other individuals requiring health and social support.
During the 2024/2025 academic year, Al-Ameed University also participated in humanitarian assistance initiatives supporting people affected by regional conflicts. Financial and in-kind donations were provided for affected communities, including refugees and displaced families who had arrived in Iraq, while additional assistance was delivered to affected populations outside Iraq.
These activities form part of the University's wider commitment to using its predominantly health-focused academic expertise to support community health, promote wellbeing and assist populations facing health or social vulnerability.
Free Community Access to Selected Sports Facilities
Al-Ameed University also supports health and physical wellbeing by making selected university sports facilities available to members of the local community without charge.
In particular, the University's sports field is made available to schools within the Al-Ameed Educational Group, enabling school students to use the facility for sporting and physical-activity programmes.
This access is provided free of charge, allowing external school students to benefit from university sports infrastructure and supporting physical activity and healthy lifestyles beyond the University's own student population.
Through its combined health outreach programmes, support for vulnerable groups and community access to selected sports facilities, Al-Ameed University seeks to extend its health and wellbeing activities beyond the campus and contribute positively to the wider community.
