The College of Pharmacy Concludes the Pharmaceutical Skills Development Course for Students Within the Summer Training Program

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Uday Abdul-Ridha Hussein Al-Rikabi, the College of Pharmacy at The University of Alameed concluded the activities of the pharmaceutical skills development course for students in pharmacies. The course was organized by the Department of Pharmaceutics in cooperation with the Department of Clinical Pharmacy, as part of the intensive summer training program at the college's Educational Pharmacy.

The course, which spanned several days, witnessed active participation from the college's students and featured a series of scientific lectures and practical training sessions. These were delivered by a select group of the college's faculty members, including the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Uday Abdul-Ridha Hussein Al-Rikabi; the Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Hayder Faleh Shamekh; and the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Hassan Zulfiqar Al-Bassam. This was alongside faculty members and staff: Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Hamid Abdul-Hussain, Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Hamid Ma'ad, Lect. Dr. Kamel Karim Attia, Lect. Dr. Ridhab Ibrahim Mohammed, Asst. Lect. Najah Hamza Kadhim, Asst. Lect. Ali Mohammed Jaafar, Asst. Lect. Ahmad Nizar Jawad, Asst. Lect. Laith Abdullah Saeed, and Research Assistants Fatima Kadhim Sahoo, Zahra Sattar Mghamis, Thanaa Fadhil Abbas, and Islam Fadhil Ubais.

The course aimed to develop the students' scientific and practical skills through training in reading and correctly analyzing medical prescriptions, and enhancing their ability to link theoretical aspects with practical applications in pharmaceutical practice. This was in addition to training in conducting case studies, discussing appropriate therapeutic protocols, developing communication and professional interaction skills with patients, acquiring hands-on experience in handling medications and pharmaceutical supplies, and learning about the requirements of pharmacy work and mechanisms for delivering optimal pharmaceutical care, thereby contributing to enhancing students' readiness and confidence to enter the labor market efficiently and professionally.

At the conclusion of the course, the Dean of the College emphasized that these training programs represent a fundamental pillar in preparing competent pharmacists, given the real opportunities they provide to refine scientific and practical skills. He noted the college's keenness to continue organizing specialized courses that keep pace with scientific advancements and meet the requirements of the labor market and the needs of society.

The activities of the course concluded with the distribution of certificates of participation to the students by the Dean of the College alongside the Associate and Assistant Deans for Scientific and Administrative Affairs, in appreciation of their active participation and completion of the training program requirements.
