The Department of Guidance and Educational Counseling at Al-Ameed University organized, on Tuesday (27/5/2025), a Majlis of mourning (Majlis ‘Aza’) commemorating the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Muhammad Al-Jawad (peace be upon him) — the Heir of the Imams (Wārith al-A’immah) and the Fountain of Wisdom (Yanbū‘ al-Ḥikmah). The event was held in the Imam Al-Mujtaba (peace be upon him) Hall within the university campus.
The Majlis commenced with a blessed recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an, recited by Dr. Ali Hamid Al-Kalkawi, followed by a religious lecture delivered by the Hussaini orator, His Eminence Sayyed Hussein Al-Safi. The lecture explored the biography (Sīrah) of Imam Al-Jawad (peace be upon him), highlighting key milestones of his blessed life, and shedding light on the moral lessons derived from his patience (Ṣabr), steadfastness (Thabāt), and generosity (‘Atā’) up until his martyrdom by poisoning.
The Majlis was attended by the President of the University, Professor Dr. Judat Noori Al-Jashami, the Scientific Assistant, Professor Dr. Maytham Hameed Al-Qanbar, and the Administrative and Legal Assistant, Professor Dr. Mushtaq Kareem Abdul Rahim, along with a group of faculty members, staff, and affiliates of the university.
This event is part of a continuous series of cultural and religious activities that the university is keen to organize on a regular basis, with the aim of instilling Islamic values, enhancing awareness of the luminous biographies (Siyar ‘Aṭirah) of the Imams of Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them), and commemorating occasions associated with them, given their profound educational and spiritual impact on building both the academic and human character.
