Importance of health education

Health education is a profession of educating people about health. Areas within this profession encompass environmental health, physical health, social health, emotional health, intellectual health, and spiritual health, as well as reproductive health education.

Poor education and a lack of sufficient knowledge can lead to mistakes that are costly for people’s health and high of mortality rate. Improved knowledge is an essential tool for prevention of errors and providing higher quality care. Education and understanding best practice care delivery is more than numbers earned each year; it’s a commitment to being a professional, keeping up-to-date, continuously seeking to improve, and ultimately a commitment to provide individuals with the best care.

Nurses should achieve higher levels of theoretical and clinical education through an improved education system that promotes seamless academic progression There are at least three types of health education. The first and most common is education about the body and how to look after it. The provision of information and advice on human biology and hygiene is vital for each new generation. The second is about health services-information about available services and the "sensible" use of health care resources. But the third, about the wider environment within which health choices are made. As well, focus in college of Nursing/Al-Aameed University on teaching of students how to deliver health care at their three levels, primary, secondary and tertiaryhealth care.
