The Technical Procedures Department is responsible for preparing and organizing library materials (books, periodicals, theses, etc.) and making them available for use in accordance with international standards. Its main tasks include:Key Responsibilities of the Department: Cataloging and Classification:Describing library materials (publication data, authors, titles) using standard cataloging systems such as Anglo-American Cataloging Rules (AACR2) or RDA.
Classifying materials according to global classification systems such as Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) or Library of Congress Classification (LCC).Preparing Cards and Electronic Data: Entering data into the library's automated system to create an electronic catalog. Ensuring data compliance with local and international standards. Indexing and Abstracting: Indexing articles and periodicals to facilitate access. Creating abstracts of academic materials to support researchers. Inventory and Maintenance: Monitoring the condition of library materials and updating their records. Organizing periodic library inventory processes. Coordination with Other Departments: Providing the User Services Department with lists of new books.
